Vintage Space. Unique Cocktails.
Cures for what ails you.
A pharmacy has sat on the corner of NW 21st and Glisan since 1892. The current building was built in 1926 and the Nob Hill Pharmacy was owned and operated by the same family from 1933 until it closed in 2005. But the Nob Hill Pharmacy was more than a cozy corner store dealing our prescriptions to Northwest Portland. It was also a Hollywood hotspot, and in 1989, the pharmacy was used in the opening scene of the Gus Van Sant movie, Drugstore Cowboy. The security mirror featured in the clips below still hangs in the same spot it hung in the original Nob Hill Pharmacy, keeping an eye over the bar’s top-shelf prescriptions. After a brief stint as an all-night coffee shop, then as a sports bar, Brian and Michelle bought The Pharmacy in 2019.
When Brian and Michelle bought the bar, they wanted to create a space that was comfortable for everyone. They wanted a great neighborhood bar where people could meet, hang out, enjoy good food and beer, and listen to local live music. Along the way, they have remodeled the space (twice!) to make it more comfortable and inviting. Seating has been expanded with a new lounge area and bar tops have been put along the windows to watch the world go by.
In recent years, we have become NW Portland’s spot for the best damn drag brunch in NW, holiday drag shows, and our drag bingo that takes place every second and fourth Tuesday! Additionally, we pride ourselves on being a community bar, a safe space for all who seek to drink, eat, and be merry!
So come on down for a drink! Bring your pets, wear your Portland pride, and let’s make history together.
Come as you are!
